Do you remember your first car? Mine was a red ‘69 VW Beetle.
Neither the heater nor defroster worked, but it got me to and from
high school during the frigid Wisconsin winters.
My dad bought the car in 1969…the photo shows the proud family
moment. (I’m the nerdy kid on the left with the glasses and “high
water” pants.) It was our first brand new car and he paid less than
$2,000 for it. He even splurged for white wall tires and a radio,

By the time I was old enough to drive, my job was to wash it, put
