When the owners of this Ford Explorer discovered that their vehicle had been stolen they reported the theft to the Denver Police Department. It was the police department’s routine entry of the vehicle information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement. This interface is both seamless and instantaneous.

Just minutes later officers with the Denver Police Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol cars.

Officers and dispatchers then queried the LoJack code appearing on the PTC display screens with the police computer system. They in turn received positive confirmation that the signals are coming from a vehicle that had been reported as stolen and are given the full description of the vehicle.

The LoJack PTC then provides officers with on-board directional and signal strength information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increase margin of safety.

The stolen vehicle was tracked and located in an alley in the 3700 block of Lafayette and Humboldt Streets. The vehicle was returned on-scene to the very happy owner.

This Ford had been installed with LoJack at the owner’s request in April 2003.
