Celebrating Community - Recapping the 2010 Summer Celebration

Auto Aves was pleased to participate in the Community Shares Charity event on Wednesday, June, 2nd at the
Infinity Park Event Center. Community Shares is Automotive Avenues
charity of choice to best represent Auto Aves as an organization. They work
with multiple non-profit organizations such as conserving Colorado’s
environment, building stronger communities, promoting animal welfare, improving
health options, fostering local arts and media, assisting people in need, and
many more great causes.

Auto Aves gave a generous donation to support the event. The employees who attended
the event were able to purchase gifts and goodies from the silent auction and
pick up some incredible finds. Auto Aves donated two items for the
event. The first was a deluxe emergency road side kit, great for any
vehicle. The kit comes complete with full size jumper cables, batteries,
roadside flares, emergency signage and much more! It includes a self contained
case branded with Auto Aves and it fits perfectly in the trunk. The starting
bid was $25 dollars.

The next item up for auction was a comprehensive vehicle detail service presented
by Automotive Avenues. Think of it as a day at the spa for the car. Just
in time to kick off the summer and make the car shine from the inside
out. The starting bid was $75 dollars. Both items were bid on and
purchased at the event by fellow sponsors.

The next exciting opportunity to work with Community Shares will be the Auto Aves
Sale Event in November. Tis the season for giving and what a great
organization to collaborate with. Stay tuned for more information in the
enlightening newsletters and on the social sites!

Volunteer of the Year

For 12 years, Syl Morgan-Smith has committed herself to working towards 100% awareness of the
giving campaign at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. That
commitment has built a team spirit of giving that honors every individual's
personal passions and interests.

In the last three years alone, Syl has doubled the amount of donations made to Community Shares
agencies and has firmly established NREL as our top private giving
campaign. Syl is an absolutely singular personality and her willingness
to dedicate her time and talents to the campaign has made a million dollar
difference in Colorado. We could not be more pleased to honor her as
Community Shares' 2010 Volunteer of the Year.

Steve Graham Memorial Scholarship

In 2007, Community Shares established the annual "Steve Graham Memorial Scholarship"
award. Steve was involved in the early development of Community
Shares and served on the board of directors. The scholarship is to be used
for training, consulting, or leadership coaching services at the Community
Resource Center, which Steve ran for many years. The 2010 Steve Graham
Memorial Scholarship award winner is Laura Lemon from Adoption Exchange.

As the Colorado Director of Development for The Adoption Exchange, Laura oversees all major
fundraising events for the Colorado office. Her passion and exceptional
work ethic have resulted in these major events exceeding their budgeted goals
during the challenging year of 2009.

Congratulations to Laura for being a shining example of philanthropy, and the 2010 recipient for the
Steve Graham Memorial Award.

Community Leader of the Year

Leslie Foster's twenty years of service at The Gathering Place have shaped this city and how we
serve women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty. She has
changed how local decision-makers talk about homelessness by representing the
women and children served not as clients but as people. The Gathering
Place's new building, a 29,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, is the
most obvious expression of Leslie's indelible imprint on the Denver
community. Yet it is when you walk inside that you understand the true
enormity of what Leslie has built. The Gathering Place challenges the
norm that people in crisis deserve only cast-offs, leftovers, and supplies
other people no longer need. The Gathering Place's culture of
acceptance and hope is a direct reflection of Leslie's leadership.

For twenty years, Leslie has opened the doors of the shelter each day, looked each woman in the eye
not as homeless but as friends, sisters, mothers, daughters, neighbors, and
believed, every day, that this could be the day a woman changes her life.

Please join us in recognizing Leslie Foster, CEO of The Gathering Place as the 2010 Community
Leader of the Year.
